Wyoming is poised to party like its 1959

Wyoming is celebrating its 50th year as a city in 2009, and a celebration weekend is being planned for August.
Scheduled to take place August 26-29, the festivities will include a kid's day, balloon launch and glow, community parade, hospital bed push, dinner in the park, BBQ cook-off, special concert, and will culminate in fireworks to recognize this milestone.
The dates were chosen to coincide with the annual 28th Street Metro Cruise.
The planned release of a new book on Wyoming's history is also planned for that time.

WYOMING -- Beer tents will be among the official 28th Street Metro Cruise events for the first time as organizers look to draw more Michigan visitors in a tough economy.
The fifth annual gathering of classic car enthusiasts on Aug. 28 and 29 aims to match or exceed last year's crowds, which included 15,000 vehicles and more than 300,000 people to the stretch of M-11 from Grandville to Cascade Township. Read more...
